# Environment Variables in Windows
## How to use them in PowerShell
Environment Varaibles can be used in [PowerShell](windows/powershell.md) with the prefix `$env:`.
**Example***:
*Variable:* `%APPDATA%`
*In Powershell:* `$env:APPDATA`
